Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign will hold her first rally with her vice presidential pick on Tuesday, August 6th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Due to the location of the rally, ongoing rumors have claimed that Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro (D-Pa.) will be her pick for vice president. Shapiro would be a key asset towards winning the swing state of Pennsylvania due to his popularity as governor.
Shapiro also promoted Vice President Harris in a speech on Monday: “She’s not only ready, she’s damned ready,” he declared. “And you know who else knows she’s ready? Donald Trump knows she’s ready.”
Although the location for the first rally with the new vice president may or may not give insight into the pick, an unnamed Harris aide reached out to the press and “cautioned against reading too much into the first city chosen for the tour.”
Harris looks to gain momentum in battleground states, kicking off a tour visiting key states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Arizona with her soon-to-be announced running mate.
Harris is expected to announce her pick for VP ahead of Tuesday’s event, which includes a short list of candidates like Shapiro, Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear (D-Ky.), Arizona Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.), Minnesota Governor Tim Walz (D-Minn.), and Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg.
Nevertheless, the Harris campaign still insisted that the vice president has not yet “made [a] decision on a running mate.”
Eric Holder Jr., former U.S. Attorney General under President Barack Obama, is overseeing the vetting of Harris’s vice-presidential candidates through his law firm, Covington & Burling.
Holder, who also led the vetting process for Obama’s vice-presidential pick in 2008, brings considerable experience to this crucial task.
