A released Hezbollah statement identified the commander as Mohammed Nasser, declaring him a “martyr” without providing more details.

Nasser now becomes the highest ranking official killed from the terrorist group since Taleb Sami Abdullah, who was taken down in an airstrike on June 11th.

In a speech, Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah honored Abdullah and asserted that he played a pivotal role on the front lines since the war began on October 7th.

Meanwhile, Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant said on Wednesday that Israeli forces would take any action necessary against Hezbollah, but that they would prefer a negotiated arrangement.

“We are striking Hezbollah very hard every day and we will also reach a state of full readiness to take any action required in Lebanon, or to reach an arrangement from a position of strength. We prefer an arrangement, but if reality forces us we will know how to fight,” Gallant was quoted as saying in a statement issued by his office.

Israel’s retaliatory efforts in Lebanon have killed over 300 Hezbollah members, according to Reuters
