Representative Jim Clyburn has insisted that Joe Biden’s falling support among African American voters is not based on his performance or on his handling of issues.

During an interview with MSNBC on Wednesday, Clyburn (D-S.C.) accused the media of not reporting what is actually happening in the country. He claimed that this is what is causing the problem.
“We have to be very careful because this is all about miscommunication, disinformation, and that’s what causes me great pause,” he said. “I know the power of the media … repeating these things rather than reporting what’s actually happening. That is what’s causing the problem.”
He also sought to prop up Biden’s record with Black voters despite recent polling showing his support among them is down by 17% compared to November 2020.
Clyburn’s claims come as the Trump campaign has notably expanded its outreach to the Black community this election cycle. Polling indicates that the former president is on track to improve his performance compared to 2020.
