Jacob Chansley, the man given the name “QAnon Shaman” who participated in the January 6^thdemonstration, has filed to run for Congress as a Libertarian candidate in Arizona.

Chansley will be running for the state’s 8^th Congressional District after Republican Debbie Lesko (R-Ariz.) announced last month that she will not seek re-election for the position.

NEW: QAnon Shaman Jacob Chansley, who was recently released from federal prison for being at the Capitol on J6, appears to be running for Congress.

Chansley will be running as a libertarian candidate according to paperwork that was filed.

Chansley was one of the protesters that stood out during the January 6^th protest by appearing shirtless with face paint, wearing a furry headdress with horns and carrying a U.S. flag affixed to a spear and a bullhorn.

The man dubbed as “QAnon Shaman” pleaded guilty to a felony charge of obstructing an official proceeding in connection with the January 6^th demonstration.

Additionally, Chansley was sentenced to 41 months in prison in November 2021 and served 27 months before being transferred to a Phoenix halfway house in March 2023.

During Chansleys hearing, his original lawyer, Albert Watkins, said he no longer wanted to be known as “QAnon Shaman.” He also said during his sentencing hearing he was sorry for his actions and called them “indefensible.”
