Just before 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a black Dodge Caravan occupied by four men wearing ski masks purposely collided with a black Alfa Romeo on the eastbound I-10 west of Arlington Avenue in South Los Angeles.
According to California Highway Patrol (CHP), the Caravan “intentionally crashed” into the victim’s vehicle.
One of the videos posted show at least four masked men wearing dark clothing and hooded sweatshirts exiting a minivan and running toward the smoking car as the vehicle’s driver is seen kneeling with both hands in the air.
The masked men proceed to ransack the victim’s car while another man standing nearby appears to be filming the incident on his cellphone.
An eye witness spoke to reporters after the incident and said that “the whole thing felt like something out of a movie.”
“It seems like they knew what he had in his car… I felt really bad for him, I though it was over for him but he did the right thing,” the witness continued. “He put his hands up, let them take what they took and that’s the safest way he could’ve done it.”
According to the CHP, the suspects left in a white Chevrolet Malibu and were armed with a hammer and crowbar. They were last seen going eastward on the 10.
CHP also reported that no injuries were recorded and that a Ford Mustang was also hit.
It is uncertain what items were stolen or whether there is any previous connection between the suspects and the victim.
The suspects are still at large and CHP is continuing to investigate the case.
