Judge Andrew Wilkinson was murdered in his driveway last week. Washington County Sheriff Brian Albert described the killing as a “targeted attack.” As of Monday, the main suspect, 49-year-old Pedro Argote, still remains at-large.
It is believed that the attack was targeted because a few hours before Wilkinson was fatally shot, he ruled against Argote in a child custody case.
Over the weekend, authorities found Argote’s vehicle abandoned in a heavily wooded area near the West Virginia border.
However, they don’t believe Argote stayed nearby. On their official Facebook page, officials announced that “no further information indicates that Argote is still in the immediate area.”
U.S. Marshals have warned that he has ties to several locations, including in New York, Florida, Indiana and North Carolina.
Authorities say they will be searching the SUV for any additional clues.
Anyone with information on Argote is urged to call the Washington county sheriff’s office.
Officials have announced a $10,000 reward for any information that could help them make an arrest.
