A South Carolina nursing director has been charged with producing fake COVID-19 vaccine cards.
Tammy McDonald, 53, was indicted on two counts of producing fake vaccination certificates by a federal jury on Friday. McDonald also faces charges of lying to a grand jury.
The indictment alleged the nursing director distributed the cards to patients she knew were unvaccinated. McDonald was arraigned on Friday and released on a $10,000 bond.

“The indictment alleges McDonald defrauded and endangered the public by creating and distributing fake COVID-19 vaccination cards,” said Derrick Jackson, special agent in charge with the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General. “Engaging in such illegal activities undermines the ongoing pandemic response efforts.”
She faces up to 15 years for producing the fake vaccine cards and an additional five years for lying to federal prosecutors.
