A former congressman has spoken out saying a GOP midterms win is likely as Joe Biden’s approval ratings continue to plummet.

In an op-ed released Friday, Peter King (R-N.Y.), who has almost 50 years of experience in politics, predicted “overwhelming Republican victories” in the 2022 midterm elections unless they defeat themselves. His remarks come following a Real Clear Politics poll from earlier this week, showing Biden’s average approval rating at only 41.6 percent.

Additionally, King said if Republicans unite and focus on core issues of inflation, crime and “Biden’s incompetency,” they have a golden opportunity to achieve historic victories for their party and the nation in 2022. However, the leadership of the GOP that wins the midterms may look much different than it currently does.

“People want action, they’re tired of the words and tired of the lies,” said Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.).

Greene is calling for strong House GOP leadership as she eyes a Republican victory for the 2022 midterms. Speaking during an interview with Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Greene said Americans are tired of seeing pro-Trump lawmakers get marginalized in Washington.

She suggested constituents in pro-Trump districts want leaders like House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), to do a better job sticking up for who they elect.

“Number one, everyone saw me get stripped of committees as a brand new member of Congress, robbing my district of the ability to have representation working on committees. There was no action taken, matter of fact, our leader did nothing to defend me, did nothing to stop it,” she stressed.

The Georgia Republican said this is unacceptable, especially when establishment Republicans like Liz Cheney (Wyo.) seem to get away with everything. She warned Americans will continue to keep an eye on what’s happening in Congress.

“What we need to do is, we need to hold to our conservative values. We need to actually give Americans something to vote for that actually do the job,” said Greene.

Greene suggested the GOP must decide who is strong enough to lead the Republican Party after what she described as a likely GOP House victory in 2022. Additionally, King, who served in Congress for 28 years, has predicted a GOP win in the 2022 midterms is likely, unless Republicans “defeat themselves.”
