Joe Biden fired up his base at a virtual DNC grassroots event. The event concerning the Democrat Party’s strategy for next year’s midterms kicked off Tuesday.
Biden brought the energy while talking about fuel. Rather than focusing on rising gas prices, he claimed his administration was looking to abandon gasoline altogether.
“And we’ll see new fleets of electric vehicles, school buses, a national network of charging stations — over 500,000 of them all across America,” hew stated. “So we can charge up and drive across the country without ever having to do anything other than know you can get to the next charging station and make it all the way without worry at all.”
After his electrifying energy plan, Biden pivoted to his Build Back Better plan. The Delaware native commended the 13 House Republicans who voted for his infrastructure bill and assured viewers the larger reconciliation bill would get done like everything else his administration has tried.
Biden put concerns regarding the bills funding to rest by laying out a detailed plan of how top earners would largely finance his agenda.
“And all this is paid for by raising taxes on big corporations and the very wealthy,” he stated. “I’m not trying to punish anybody, but I’m insisting that they pay their fair share. It’s fiscally responsible and it’s paid for.”
The former vice president called his spending plan “anti-inflationary” and touted job creation the month after federal unemployment benefits expired as proof his economic plans were working.
Biden then shifted from his administrations successes to the future. Fitting for an even reminiscent of his 2020 presidential campaign, Biden claimed the Democrat Party would need a message of unity to achieve victory in 2022.
“We need to remember what got us to the White House in the first place.” he noted. “We won in 2020 as a unified party; maybe more unified than ever. Now, as you look at 2022, we need to stay unified. We need to remember that the American people sent us here to deliver to make their lives better.”
The man 45th President Donald Trump referred to as “sleepy Joe” will have to reawaken his party after they suffered heavy electoral losses in New Jersey and Virginia last week.
