The family of a President Trump supporter who was assassinated in Portland last year has sued the city for damages. The estate of Aaron Danielson announced its $13 million suit Friday, saying he would still be alive if it weren’t for city policing policies. They claimed the hands-off approach to policing taken by the city’s Mayor Ted Wheeler (D), is partially responsible for Danielson’s death.

Danielson was walking through Portland after a pro-Trump rally with a friend last summer when he was gunned down by an Antifa activist. Danielson lost his life to a single gunshot wound to the chest in August of 2020.

The estate is also suing Wheeler personally, as well as the county district attorney for Danielson’s murder.

“We are seeking justice for the preventable death of a young man, gunned down in a city with a dangerous and deadly hands-off approach to public safety,” said Christopher L. Cauble, the attorney for Danielson’s estate, in a statement.
