A six-year-old girl was killed and five other people were injured in a shooting in downtown Washington D.C. Officers responded to the sound of gunfire late Friday night and found six victims suffering from gunshot wounds.
The six-year-old was rushed to a local hospital in critical condition. However, she was later pronounced dead from her injuries. Three men and two women were also injured in the shooting and were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Last night, 6 year-old Nyiah Courtney tragically lost her life to senseless gun violence.

”We’re asking for the public’s assistance to bring these shooters to justice,” expressed Executive Chief Ashan Benedict, Metropolitan Police Department. “…There’s too much gun violence still perpetuated in this city and too many children are being harmed, innocent children, by gunfire”.
Authorities did not release information regarding potential suspects and continue to search for videos or witnesses to the shooting.
