Los Angeles County has reimposed its mask mandates regardless of a person’s vaccination status. Health officials announced on Thursday, they would be requiring everyone to wear a face covering indoors in public places beginning this Saturday night.
This comes just a month after California dropped its statewide mask mandate for those vaccinated. County officials said a recent surge in COVID-19 cases prompted them to restore indoor mask requirements.

“Masking indoors must again become a normal practice by all regardless of vaccination status so that we can stop the trends and level of transmission we’re currently seeing,” said Muntu Davis, the Los Angeles County health officer. He stressed waiting for the community to be at a higher transmission level before making a change would be too late.
Health officials expect the mandate to remain in place until community transmission declines.
