The Republican National Committee has refused establishment media from moderating GOP primary debates. During an interview on Monday, Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel said the RNC would not allow biased mainstream media figures to moderate 2024 Republican primary debates.

McDaniel added the RNC could request the Republican nominee for president not to participate in general election debates unless the Commission on Presidential Debates made some major changes. In June, McDaniel sent a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debate, which outlined these changes.

“However, we have actually called on the Commission on Presidential Debates to have more transparency, to have term limits,” she explained. “We may encourage our candidate not to work with them if they do not make significant changes.”

McDaniel’s comments come as Republicans gear up for the 2022 midterms and begin to prepare early for the 2024 presidential race.
