The United States provided life-saving aid to Argentina as it has struggled to battle the coronavirus pandemic. On Thursday, Head of U.S. Southern Command Admiral Craig Faller announced the donation of three field hospitals in the capital city of Buenos Aires.
The hospitals were opened just days after Argentina recorded a new high for daily cases with nearly 21,000 on Tuesday.
“This ceremony highlights the steadfast partnership between the United States and Argentina in combatting COVID-19,” Adm. Faller said. “The Western Hemisphere is our shared home, our neighborhood, and what we’re doing here is being good neighbors and assisting each other.”
In addition to the hospitals, the U.S. also donated $3.5 million worth of supplies and will provide training to help Argentineans deal with disaster situations.
