More Republicans are calling on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) to drop an election dispute in Iowa.

In a letter to Pelosi, Iowa’s Secretary of State Paul Pate urged her to reject any attempts to overturn the race.

Pate noted Democrat Rita Hart approved of the recount procedures and results following her challenge. He also refuted Hart’s claims the state’s election laws weren’t followed to address her concerns. Pate believes her campaign should have explored other remedies, rather than getting the federal government involved.

His comments echoed those of the House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

“If you want a constitutional back, the states decide,” McCarthy stated. “If Nancy Pelosi wants to pull that game, to try to pick and choose who, she’s going against the voice of Iowa’s second district, and I think that’s wrong.”

McCarthy is in Iowa rallying for Republican Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, while a House panel reviews the contested race for Iowa’s second district. Her legal team argued the Democrat-led challenge is unprincipled and dangerous.
