Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw (R) set the record straight regarding the Biden border crisis. During an interview on MSNBC Sunday, Crenshaw sparred with commentator Mehdi Hasan over how the Biden administration has handled the crisis.
Crenshaw stressed Biden’s rollback of asylum cooperation agreements and reinstatement of “Catch-and-Release” policies caused the surge in illegal immigrants. Additionally, things got especially heated when Crenshaw educated Hasan about the real effects of Title 42 on unaccompanied minors.
MSNBC and @MehdiHasanShow don’t seem to know the first thing about US asylum policy. You don’t “send people back” with an ACA. The whole point, which @RepDanCrenshaw tried to explain, is that ppl claim asylum in their home country, not after they’ve illegally crossed into the US. https://t.co/hm20AwFfDF

“Well, nobody should put orphans in the desert,” Crenshaw said. “That’s a good policy, don’t do that.”
“That’s exactly what Donald Trump was doing,” Hasan claimed.
“Listen,” Crenshaw stated. “When unaccompanied minors come across, they get processed, they get healthcare, they get housing, they get fed, they get on a charter plane. We ensure that they are met by government officials who then reunite them with families there. This process is extremely meticulous. No naccompanied minor is just sent back. That has never been the process! You gotta tell the truth about this.”
The Texas representative urged reporters to go to the border to see the crisis for themselves.
