A Tesla owner credited Elon Musk’s car for helping to save his life. On Wednesday, Navy sailor Draper Younce shared his story about an attempted carjacking before he thanked Musk.

Younce was recently parked in his Tesla Model 3 as he waited to pick up a friend from an apartment complex. An armed man then approached his vehicle and demanded Younce get out of the car. He quickly hit the gas and dodged a bullet.

Thanks to Tesla’s eight cameras, the entire ordeal was caught on tape.
“I saw my opportunity to escape,” Younce stated. I ducked to the right, I accelerated as hard as I could. I have never had a gun drawn on me overseas in 8+ years deployed.”
Younce honked the horn in order to save the video, which is a feature that drivers can set up for their Tesla’s. He has since turned the recording over to the police.
“When the gun was put in my face, I went from having a great day, talking to my friend and landlord on the phone,” Younce said. “To ‘Hey, I got to go, I’m getting robbed.’”
Along with thanking Musk for creating the Tesla, he also credited his military experience for helping him stay calm.
