Californians are protesting Gov. Newsom’s new coronavirus restrictions as many feel the mandates are over-reaching and unnecessary.
On Saturday, More than a hundred Californians were seen near the Huntington Beach pier. They protested the new curfew imposed by the state’s Democrat governor.
The curfew marked the first statewide stay-at-home order since March and it will bar travel from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m, but essential workers are excluded.
According to reports, the protesters waved American and Trump 2020 flags in protest of Gov. Newsom’s new measures.

Many of the demonstrators felt the measures were going too far.
“I’d like to see curfews go away, I don’t really agree with it,” said one demonstrator. “I think there are too many restrictions as is. Obviously, a lot of people don’t agree with what our governor and city officials are doing, but I’d prefer to see something done a little bit differently.”

California law states that local jurisdictions can impose stricter regulations than the state mandate, but even law enforcement officers believe the curfew is detrimental and unnecessary. At least 13 agencies in the Golden State said they will not enforce the mandate during Thanksgiving festivities.
Meanwhile, more than 40 of the state’s 58 counties are affected by the mandate. The mandate applies to regions that are marked in the ‘purple-tier,’ which is the highest level of regulation based on the state’s model.
Under the new restrictions, residents are only allowed to leave their homes for emergencies, to go to the grocery store or to walk their dog. Despite recent numbers, many Californians feel the restrictions will do little to curb the rising coronavirus case count in the state.
“I think we’ve tried lots of tools throughout the past nine months and none have really worked, if you will,” one attendee stated. “This one is certainly less restrictive than the other ones, which leads me to believe that it’s probably not going to do much.”
The latest restrictions, including the curfew, will remain in place for the next few weeks leading up to Christmas. The restrictions will lift on December 21.
