President Donald Trump has thrown his support behind Mike Mazzei in the Oklahoma Republican gubernatorial primary runoff election, bashing his opponent state Attorney General Gentner Drummond.
After neither candidate received enough votes to win outright in the June 16th primary, they both advanced to an August 25th runoff election to secure the state’s GOP nominee for governor.
“I LOVE Oklahoma, and Mike Mazzei has my COMPLETE and TOTAL Endorsement for Governor!” Trump posted to Truth Social on Wednesday.
His approval for Mazzei did not extend to Drummond, calling him a “FAKE Republican” and pointing to his political donations.
“Meanwhile, his Runoff Election Opponent, Gentner Drummond, is a FAKE Republican, who donated to SLEEPY Joe Biden, and the totally corrupt and anti-American ‘Lincoln Project,’ which is now in shambles because of their views on Open Borders, Men playing in Women’s Sports, and Transgender Mutlization of your Children,” the president said, further criticizing others connected to the Lincoln Project.
“This is what Drummond, and his equally Liberal wife, Wendy, supported at levels that are shameful and, frankly, that makes them both Radical Left Dumocrats,” he continued.
Trump also accused criticized Drummond over a proposed aluminum plant in the state.
“Additionally, he wants to dethrone a magnificent, Job producing, desperately needed, and brand new, Aluminum Plant that will be one of the best projects ever conceived or built, not only in the Great State of Oklahoma, but in the United States, itself,” he said. “It will be one of the most successful Job Creating Plants ever built in our Country.”
He emphasized the benefits of the plant for the state, which included job creation and lower taxes.
“In addition, it helps our Country with regards to National Security — You can’t get Aluminum in the United States, and this Plant will go elsewhere if it’s not approved. Oklahoma can lead the way!”
According to Trump, the two candidates’ positions on the plant remain opposite.
“Very simply, Mike Mazzei is for this desperately needed Job Producing Aluminum Plant. Drummond, for his own reasons, is not — He even SUED, unsuccessfully, to block it. It’s going to be the Biggest Aluminum Plant in the Country, and it’s all financed and done! It is a financial windfall for the State of Oklahoma, including what will be a major reduction in your Taxes!” he said.
Trump concluded by calling on Oklahomans to back Mazzei in the runoff election.
“Drummond is not the right guy. He’s got a bad attitude, and he doesn’t stand for the Values of Oklahoma, which must VOTE FOR ‘MIKE MAZZEI FOR GOVERNOR,’ on Tuesday, August 25th — MIKE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!” he added.
