White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt will step down from her position at the end of the month, President Donald Trump announced in a statement, praising her tenure and outlining her future role within his political apparatus.
According to Trump, Leavitt’s decision to exit the administration stems from a desire to focus on her family and young children. Trump expressed full support for her departure, commending her service as one of his most important communications strategists and trusted aides while endorsing her transition back to private life.
“Our wonderful White House Press Secretary, and one of my most trusted aides, Karoline Leavitt, will be departing her role at the end of the month so she can spend more time with her beautiful young children and family, a decision I totally understand and respect! Karoline will now be one of my top outside advisors, and an influential voice within the Republican Party, as we work to defy History, and conclusively win the Midterm Elections. Karoline has been a real leader in the White House, and has done a phenomenal job fighting for Justice, Liberty, and Freedom, since 2018, including our Historic Re-Election Campaign of 2024. Karoline has been one of the best White House Press Secretaries in the History of the Office. Thank you, Karoline, for a job well done!” President Trump said on Truth Social on Wednesday.
Though she is leaving her official West Wing position, Leavitt will remain closely aligned with the Trump administration as a senior outside advisor. In this external role, she is expected to maintain significant influence within the Republican Party, contributing to strategic messaging and campaign efforts ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.
Leavitt, who made history as the youngest White House Press Secretary in U.S. history upon her appointment, spearheaded White House communications from the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room podium.
A successor to fill the position of White House Press Secretary has not yet been named.
