Todd Blanche has officially been sworn in as the next United States Attorney General.
During a closed-door Oval Office ceremony on Monday, following an overnight Senate confirmation vote late last week, Blanche was sworn in by Federal Appeals Court Judge Emil Bove—Blanche’s former defense team colleague—with President Donald Trump in attendance.
With the oath administered, Blanche officially took permanent command of the Department of Justice (DOJ).
His nomination narrowly passed in a 50-to-49 vote on Saturday. The vote broke largely along party lines, with two GOP senators, Susan Collins (R-Maine) and Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), siding with all Senate Democrats to oppose him.
