A body was found at a Massachusetts rental home owned by United States Representative Ayanna Pressley’s husband, Conan Harris, after authorities received a call to “investigate a person.”
Boston Police Department (BPD) Officer James Moccia said authorities received a call on Saturday after 1:50 p.m. local time to “investigate a person” at Harris’ rental property in the Mattapan neighborhood of Boston. As soon as officers arrived on scene, the individual was pronounced dead.
“This death investigation is currently being handled by the BPD Homicide Unit,” Moccia said.
The house was first built in 1910 and sold to Harris in 2021. The home is currently listed for sale, with an asking price of $1.15 million, according to PEOPLE.
Harris responded to the investigation in a Facebook post on Saturday.
“Thank you everyone for the care and concern, our family is safe,” he wrote. “My heart goes out to the family that lost a loved one today in Mattapan.”
“The Congresswoman extends her deepest condolences to the impacted family,” a spokesperson told CBS News.
Pressley (D-Mass.) represents Massachusetts’ seventh congressional district and is a member of a progressive Democrat “squad” according to Newsweek. The 52-year-old congresswoman married Harris in 2014.
According to 2020 press release from Pressley, Harris served 10 years in prison on drug trafficking charges. Since his release, he has campaigned for criminal justice reform and helping formerly incarcerated individuals reintegrate into society.
