President Donald Trump announced that the Lincoln Reflecting Pool has once again been emptied for repairs, taking to Truth Social on Friday to reveal that the pool’s basin was badly damaged by “deranged vandals.”
In his post, the president explained that the landmark had to be drained to repair massive slashes across the newly installed liner, which was recently laid down as part of a $14 million beautification initiative.
According to Trump, the cuts stretched for hundreds of yards across the bottom of the basin. The president stated that his administration deliberately waited until the July 4th holiday weekend concluded before taking the pool out of service, adding that he is now looking to reinforce the structure with “vandal-proof material” to prevent future incidents.
“What kind of animals would do such a thing?” Trump wrote, questioning the motives behind the sabotage and adding that it was upsetting such heavy-duty materials should even be necessary.
He concluded his post by revealing that the “scum in court will hopefully be prosecuted to the MAX.”
