Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin announced that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) issued letters to the secretaries of state in four states warning them that tens of thousands of non-citizens appear on their voter rolls.

“The Department of Homeland Security, we’ve identified 250,000 non-citizens registered to vote in just four states. Mind you, we have 46 other states,” Mullin said at a press conference on Friday.

The DHS’s preliminary review of the four non-compliant states’ records found that there may be as many as:

190,832 non-citizens registered to vote in California.
35,152 non-citizens registered to vote in New Jersey.
15,903 non-citizens registered to vote in Nevada.
14,576 non-citizens registered to vote in Pennsylvania.

Mullin said that 23 states also worked “proactively” with the DHS to identify 28,000 noncitizens and 400,000 deceased people still registered to vote. The willing states were Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Louisiana, Michigan, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and Wyoming.

The secretary encouraged every state to partner with the DHS to secure voter roll integrity.

He also announced that the department is working with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick to make security enhancements to voting materials such as machines and registration lists mandatory to receive federal grants and reimbursements.

Mullin pledged his department would take “proactive and reactive measures,” including a new election infrastructure plan from the cybersecurity team, which the public can expect to see within 30 days. In addition to the plan, which will help to provide resources to states willing to partner with federal law enforcement, the department will provide training to support state election integrity.

“Before and after the election, we will scrub all election records looking for illegal aliens and those who are ineligible to vote, including those that somehow voted, yet they were deceased. If you’re illegal and attempted to vote, or you tried to vote illegally for someone else, we will find you, and we will charge you. Illegal voter registration and illegal voting both carry penalties up to five years in prison and up to $250,000 in fines.”

California Secretary of State Shirley Weber, New Jersey Secretary of State Dale Caldwell, Nevada Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, and Pennsylvania Secretary of State Al Schmidt have two weeks to confirm their intentions to work with the DHS to ensure secure elections in their respective states.
