United States Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed that U.S. forces completed their third consecutive night of strikes against the Islamic Republic.
Multiple locations across Iran were struck during the five-hour mission, mainly along the country’s coast and in the Strait of Hormuz, targeting “Iranian coastal defense systems, missile and drone sites, and maritime capabilities,” CENTCOM said in a Monday statement.
The attack began at 4:45 p.m. ET on Monday and ended at 10:15 p.m. ET, the command said.
The strikes represent the latest wave of U.S. hostilities after the conflict reignited in the region last week. According to CENTCOM, Iran targeted four commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz last week, with American forces launching a slew of attacks in response over multiple nights.
Iran has also reportedly launched numerous attacks against its Gulf neighbors, where a number of American military personnel and infrastructure are based.
Across the region, more than 50,000 U.S. service members are currently deployed, CENTCOM said.
“American forces remain vigilant, lethal, and ready,” the command stated.

Administration of the strait has been a flashpoint for Iran and the U.S., with Iran repeatedly claiming it maintains control of the international waterway, which is adamantly denied by American officials.
The Islamic Republic recently created the Persian Gulf Strait Authority, demanding that ships register with it to have their crews and cargo vetted, the Associated Press reported.
Iran is further insisting that vessels transit through a route close to its coastline rather than a southern route along the coast of Oman promoted by the U.S., according to the AP.
