Darline Graham Nordone has been announced as the official temporary replacement for late Senator Lindsey Graham.

On Monday, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster (R-S.C.) revealed during a State House press conference that he was filling the vacancy left by the late senator with Graham’s younger sister.

This announcement comes shortly after President Donald Trump revealed that he had recommended her to the South Carolina governor as the ideal interim choice.

“I recommended, to Governor Henry McMaster, Lindsey Graham’s wonderful sister, Darline, to serve as interim Senator from the Great State of South Carolina. This would be a fabulous tribute to Lindsey, who loved her dearly!” Trump posted to Truth Social on Monday morning.

She will serve out the remainder of her brother’s term, which officially ends in January 2027.

Senator Graham died unexpectedly on Saturday evening at the age of 71. Following an autopsy, the medical examiner confirmed that he passed away from an aortic dissection brought on by arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease.
