President Donald Trump thanked SpaceX president Gwynne Shotwell for her and her husband’s stock donation of $325 million to Trump Accounts.
On Monday, Shotwell announced that she and her husband, Robert Shotwell, were “honored and thrilled” to each donate a share of their SpaceX stock to the more than 2 million American children with Trump Accounts.
Responding to the massive donation, Trump expressed his gratitude to the SpaceX president in a Truth Social post on Wednesday.
“Thank you to the brilliant and highly respected Gwynne Shotwell, and her husband, Robert, for their extreme Generosity in helping children to attain the ever magnificent American Dream!” Trump wrote. “Their Gift of 325 Million Dollars of SpaceX Stock is greatly appreciated by all. Thousands of children have just been given a better life. Thank you Gwynne and Robert, and continued Great Success!”

Shotwell, the longtime chief operating officer and second-in-command to Elon Musk at SpaceX, has added her name to the expanding list of corporate leaders and businesses supporting the initiative.
Those who have also contributed to Trump Accounts include Michael and Susan Dell, who pledged $6.25 billion, and Micron Technology, which committed $250 million. Additionally, major employers like BlackRock, Intel and JPMorgan Chase have pledged to match the government’s initial $1,000 contribution to employees’ children’s accounts.
Shotwell’s gift follows Trump’s remarks last week expressing anticipation that Musk would donate SpaceX stock to the program.
Created last year, Trump Accounts will provide a $1,000 Treasury seed for every American child born between January 1, 2025, and December 31, 2028. Parents manage the accounts while children are minors and choose to contribute up to $5,000 per year. These funds automatically convert into traditional retirement IRAs when the child turns 18.
