United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced it completed another round of strikes against Iran as hostilities are ramped up in the region.
The command stated that U.S. military forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets on Wednesday after President Donald Trump asserted that the ceasefire between the U.S. and the Islamic Republic was over as far as he was concerned.
“U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces completed an additional round of strikes against Iran, July 8, to further degrade Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping and innocent civilian mariners in the Strait of Hormuz,” CENTCOM said in a statement.
“U.S. forces struck approximately 90 Iranian military targets including air defense systems, coastal surveillance assets, missile and drone storage sites, naval capabilities, and military logistics infrastructure along Iran’s coastline,” it continued.
After CENTCOM’s announcement, both Kuwait and Bahrain, which house U.S. troops and military assets, claimed hostile air assets had been detected in their airspace.
The spokesperson for the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense (MOD) stated that three ballistic missiles, one cruise missile, and 10 drones had been detected and intercepted in the country’s airspace, bringing the total to 16 cruise missiles, nearly 400 ballistic missiles, and over 900 drones since the start of the conflict with Iran, according to the Kuwait Army General Staff Headquarters Arabic-language X account.
Bahrain also dealt with its own attacks, according to the Bahrain Defense Force’s (BDF) Arabic-language X account.
“The General Command clarifies that, with firm resolve and high combat readiness, the Bahrain Defense Force’s air defense systems confronted, intercepted, and destroyed several treacherous Iranian aerial attacks this morning, Thursday, July 9, 2026 CE,” the BDF stated.
Hostilities heated up in the region after Iran attacked three commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, according to CENTCOM. On Tuesday, the command said it launched retaliatory strikes, which hit more than 80 targets.
“U.S. forces remain vigilant, lethal, and prepared to execute operations directed by the Commander in Chief,” CENTCOM said on Wednesday.
