Former Los Angeles mayoral candidate Spencer Pratt reportedly met with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office this week, shortly after making an announcement regarding legal action over the devastating 2025 California wildfires.
The White House visit followed closely on the heels of Pratt’s announcement that he is teaming up with an unexpected ally to challenge the Democrat leadership of Los Angeles. Pratt stated that he is joining forces with Kenneth Bass — the brother of current Los Angeles Democrat Mayor Karen Bass — in a joint lawsuit targeting the city’s government.
The legal action highlights gross and reckless municipal negligence concerning the response to the January 2025 Pacific Palisades wildfire, a historic disaster that destroyed thousands of homes across the region, including the residence of Pratt and his family.
Since both men lost their homes in the same disaster, they joined a collective lawsuit alongside other local property owners targeting the city of Los Angeles and the Department of Water and Power (DWP). The lawsuit argues that the city and the utility provider failed to manage infrastructure and emergency protocols properly, which directly led to the catastrophic fire, the LA Times reported.
Writing on social media to announce the development, Pratt stated that he joined the lawsuit to address the “reckless negligence that led to the destruction of our homes.”
Meanwhile, following the meeting inside the executive mansion, Pratt shared a photograph of his son inside the Oval Office alongside the president. Reflecting on the visit, Pratt tied his fierce dedication to activism directly to the natural instinct of fatherhood. He explained that his drive to fix his community and help the country is fueled by the same unconditional, protective love he feels for his son.
“You must love your country the way you love your child. Unconditional love,” Pratt wrote on X. He further emphasized his commitment to the ongoing civic disputes in California by adding, “I will never stop fighting for my community.”
The encounter also follows months of public back-and-forth between the president and the conservative former mayoral candidate.
During the primary campaign, Trump had frequently praised Pratt’s political rise while speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews. “Oh, I’d like to see him do well. He’s a character,” the president remarked. “I don’t know him. I assume he probably supports me. Does he support me? I heard he does. I heard he’s a big MAGA person. He’s doing well.”
Though the Associated Press reported that Pratt finished third in his primary race against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass and far-left challenger Nithya Raman, failing to secure a spot in the upcoming November runoff, Trump had actively disputed the official results of the primary.
In a series of public statements and media appearances, the president labeled the California voting system dishonest and argued that the results shifted improperly during the extended mail-in ballot counting process.
“No way this could have happened. Rigged Election! You have a really rigged vote in California. You have all the mail-in ballots, everything else. Very hard to win because the elections are very dishonest,” Trump asserted at the time.
The specific details of the conversation between President Trump and Pratt inside the Oval Office have not been publicly disclosed. White House officials did not release an official readout of the meeting, and Pratt did not share a specific breakdown of their dialogue.
