Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that the official signing ceremony of the recently reported peace deal between the United States and Iran will take place on Friday in Switzerland.

“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED,” Sharif, whose country has acted as a mediator, posted to X on Sunday.

“With the agreement now in place, mediators will facilitate a series of meeting this week. These pre-implementation discussions will lay the foundation for the technical talks and the official signing ceremony,” he continued.

On Sunday, President Donald Trump announced the completion of the deal and the removal of the U.S. naval blockade on Iranian ports, as well as the opening of the Strait of Hormuz.

“With the opening of the Strait upon the signing of the Deal on Friday, for purposes of mine removal, oil will flow on both ends again for the Region,” Trump said.

In a Monday interview with CBS Mornings, Vice President JD Vance said the administration plans to release the text of the agreement, which has not yet been publicly released, in the coming week. After the official signing of the deal on Friday, Vance explained technical talks would follow.

Media has largely reported the peace agreement as a memorandum of understanding (MOU), with certain issues to be hammered out in the following 60-day period.
