Amid racial tensions surrounding a high-profile Black-on-White criminal trial, a man was arrested following a heated confrontation outside the courthouse where Karmelo Anthony was convicted of first-degree murder.
The Collin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed on Thursday that Winston Jerome Parker, 27, was taken into custody outside the Collin County courthouse for an outstanding warrant for alleged unlawful carrying of a weapon.
Parker’s arrest came just hours after he was captured on video confronting another man in the court’s parking lot and pointing a finger in his face during racially charged protests in support of Anthony, 19, shortly after he was found guilty of stabbing 17-year-old Austin Metcalf on April 2, 2025.
Authorities alleged that the charge centered on “activities related to trial proceedings” of Anthony’s murder case on Tuesday.
Videos circulating social media showed several altercations breaking out as Anthony was sentenced to 35 years in prison for Metcalf’s killing.
In a separate incident at the courthouse, a man later identified as Sholdon Daniels — who previously ran in the Republican primary for Texas’ 30th Congressional District — was taken into custody and charged with public intoxication, according to jail records obtained by Fox News. He remains jailed on a $500 bond.
Posts on Daniels’ X account show him sharply criticizing Anthony’s actions and suggesting that race played a significant role in the high-profile murder case.
“I practice law in Collin County, Texas,” Daniels wrote in one post on X. “Karmelo Anthony will be convicted and sentenced to life in prison. As he should. He murdered that boy because he was raised to hate white people and to view himself as a victim in every situation. It’s a culture thing.”
Parker remains detained on a $1,000 bond, according to prison records.
