Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Kash Patel announced that eight pro-Palestine “activists” were indicted following an alleged year-long campaign of intimidation, vandalism and threats aimed at University of Michigan officials, businesses and law enforcement in an effort to compel them to “cut ties with Israel.”
According to a statement released by the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Wednesday, the suspects are accused of orchestrating attacks that included spray-painting homes with words such as “Intifada” and “Free Palestine.” The indictment also states that the group left threatening notes on victims’ doors and left extensive damage to property across eastern Michigan.
“A federal grand jury returned an indictment against Zainab Aliasgar Hakim (Canton, Michigan) (age 23), Amatullah Aliasgar Hakim (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 21), Paige Elizabeth Feyock (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 26), Ahmet Kerem Korkaya (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) (age 28), Jonathan Hongru Zou (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 22), Alexander Matthew Sepulveda (Chicago, Illinois) (age 23), Mariam Muhammed Odeh (Dearborn, Michigan) (age 24), and Colin Hunter Weger (Ann Arbor, Michigan) (age 24),” the DOJ stated.
Authorities say that the attacks grew significantly more violent when the group began breaking windows and throwing glass jars filled with chemicals into family’s homes while children were inside. Notably, the most extreme incidents took place on October 7, 2024, precisely one year after the Hamas attack on Israel, the FBI noted.
The coordinated campaign of intimidation occurred between March 2024 and April 2025, during which time members of the group reportedly utilized encrypted messaging platforms and social media to identify targets and orchestrate their strikes.
As part of this targeted effort, vandals attacked the home of University of Michigan Board of Regents member Jordan Acker in December 2024, shattering a front window and spray-painting his wife’s car with messages demanding university divestment alongside an inverted red triangle. The university administration later condemned the incident, designating the targeted destruction as a clear act of antisemitic intimidation.
“These individuals spent over a year allegedly engaging in a targeted, coordinated campaign of violence and intimidation motivated by the October 7, 2023 Hamas terrorist attack on Israel,” Patel said in a statement to Fox News Digital. “They vandalized property, left threatening messages and even violently attacked homes while children slept inside … The defendants also left demand notes containing additional threats, caulked doors shut, bike-locked entryways, broke windows, and threw glass jars filled with butyric acid and dye into the homes. The defendants took photographs of the destruction and posted the photos online with ‘official statements’ and additional warnings and threats, such as ‘you cannot hide’ and ‘we only come back stronger.’”
“Our FBI Detroit team and partners across Michigan, Illinois, and Wisconsin pursued a thorough, rigorous investigation and did a tremendous job executing the multi-state operation early this morning,” Patel added on X.
