Representative Andy Barr has won the highly anticipated Kentucky GOP primary bid to replace retiring Senator Mitch McConnell.

On Tuesday, Barr cleared a crowded field of 11 challengers, including former Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron.

Backed by a late endorsement from President Donald Trump — and after early rival Nate Morris dropped out to endorse him — Barr locked in a decisive victory.

Morris exited the race after the president floated a future ambassadorship. With his withdrawal, Barr enters November as the clear favorite to succeed McConnell (R-Ky.) and claim his historic 41-year seat.
