UPDATE: 9:01 AM – President Donald Trump has praised his administration’s collaborative effort to release dozens of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) files as part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE).

On Friday, after the Department of War published its new hub for the declassified materials, Trump responded to the unidentified flying object (UFO)-related files in a Truth Social Post.

“As for my promise to you, the Department of War has released the first tranche of the UFO/UAP files to the Public for their review and study,” he wrote. “In an effort for Complete and Maximum Transparency, it was my Honor to direct my Administration to identify and provide Government files related to Alien and Extraterrestrial Life, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena, and Unidentified Flying Objects.”

“Whereas previous Administrations have failed to be transparent on this subject, with these new Documents and Videos, the people can decide for themselves, ‘WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON?’” he continued. “Have Fun and Enjoy!”

8:07 AM – The United States Department of War has begun to release declassified “never-before-seen” Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena (UAP) files as part of the Presidential Unsealing and Reporting System for UAP Encounters (PURSUE) to fulfill the Trump administration’s promise of increased transparency.

The Pentagon announced the “historic transparency effort” on social media on Friday, including a link to war.gov/UFO/ for individuals to click through the files and “ultimately make up their own minds.”

PURSUE is an interagency effort with collaborative efforts between the White House, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), the Department of Energy (DOE), the War Department’s All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO), the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and U.S. intelligence agencies.

President Donald Trump initiated this effort in February due to the amount of “interest” the public displayed.

“Based on the tremendous interest shown, I will be directing the Secretary of War, and other relevant Departments and Agencies, to begin the process of identifying and releasing Government files related to alien and extraterrestrial life, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAP), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs), and any and all other information connected to these highly complex, but extremely interesting and important, matters,” he wrote in a February 19th Truth Social Post.

The first batch contains 162 files, including 14 images, 28 videos and 120 documents from several locations spanning from the U.S. to the Middle East to the moon, and dated last year to as early as the 1940s. Included in the files are old State Department cables, military mission reports, email correspondence, photos of unidentified object sightings and transcripts from NASA crewed spaceflights.

The new website has a retro-futurist feel, with a black-and-white filter over the images and a minimalist user-interface (UI) font to create an Apollo-era aesthetic.

“The Department of War is in lockstep with President Trump to bring unprecedented transparency regarding our government’s understanding of Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. These files, hidden behind classifications, have long fueled justified speculation — and it’s time the American people see it for themselves,” stated War Secretary Pete Hegseth.

The War Department noted that all of the files were reviewed for security purposes but that “many of the materials have not yet been analyzed for resolution of any anomalies.”

“Under President Trump’s leadership, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence is actively coordinating the Intelligence Community’s declassification efforts with the Department of War to ensure a careful, comprehensive, and unprecedented review of our holdings to provide the American people with maximum transparency,” Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard said. “Today’s release is the first in what will be an ongoing joint declassification and release effort.”

“For the first time in history, the American people have unfettered access to declassified government files on Unidentified Anomalous Phenomenon – a level of transparency that no prior administration has delivered. The FBI remains committed to supporting this rolling declassification effort with the same rigor and integrity we bring to every national security matter,” FBI Director Kash Patel chimed in.

“I applaud President Trump’s whole-of-government effort to bring greater transparency to the American people on unidentified anomalous phenomena,” NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman added. “At NASA, our job is to bring the brightest minds and most advanced scientific instruments to bear, follow the data, and share what we learn. We will remain candid about what we know to be true, what we have yet to understand, and all that remains to be discovered. Exploration and the pursuit of knowledge are core to NASA’s mission as we endeavor to unlock the secrets of the universe.”

Representative Tim Burchett, who introduced the “UAP Transparency Act,” thanked Trump for “keeping [his] word.”

“I would like to remind people that transparency won’t all happen at once, it will take some time,” Burchett said in a statement.
