White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced the birth of her daughter, Viviana, or “Vivi,” describing her as “perfect and healthy.”
The baby girl, born on Friday, May 1st, brings Leavitt and her husband Nicholas Riccio’s tally to two, as they also have a boy just under two years old.
“On May 1st, Viviana aka ‘Vivi’ joined our family, and our hearts instantly exploded with love,” Leavitt posted to social media on Thursday.
“She is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister. We are enjoying every moment in our blissful newborn bubble,” she continued. “Thank you to everyone who reached out with prayers during my pregnancy — I truly felt them throughout the entire experience. God is Good.”

Leavitt said “Vivi” was born on May 1st and “is perfect and healthy, and her big brother is joyfully adjusting to life with his new baby sister.”
On July 10, 2024, the couple welcomed their son, Nicholas “Niko.” Days after his birth, Leavitt returned to work on President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign following the July 13th assassination attempt against him in Butler, Pennsylvania.
Maternity plans for her second child were also disrupted, as she postponed her leave to address the press following the April 25th shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
No single individual was announced as the press secretary’s temporary replacement during her absence, though Leavitt told reporters they would be in good hands with her team.
On Tuesday, Secretary of State Marco Rubio filled in for Leavitt, giving a briefing on the conflict in Iran. The news conference led to some comical moments as Rubio engaged with reporters, the secretary of state joking, “This is chaos, guys,” as he called on members of the press.
